In Budapest, approximately 20,000 Yidden currently reside, mainly concentrated in the downtown ghetto area. A significant portion, about 5,000 to 6,000 individuals, live closer to the Parliament district, which is a 30-45 minute drive from the old decaying mikvah – the only one in town until recently.
To enhance the Mikvah experience, Mikvah Tahara made substantial efforts resulting in the construction of a magnificent new Mikvah at the newly established Jewish center to serve the local Kehillah. The grand opening took place after Pesach 5783, marked by joyful celebrations.
While initially only seven families observed the laws of family purity, an additional 20 families have now committed to using the operational Mikvah, with an estimated 30 people projected to make use of it.
The new center also accommodates a Sunday kids school with 150 children aged 6 to 12. Additionally, there is an afterschool program with daily attendance ranging from 5 to 10 children.
Furthermore, a new bagel store called NY Bagels has been launched.
