Cannes is home to a thriving Jewish community with 1,400 families, of whom several hundred are closely affiliated with Chabad. While there are only around 20 shomer Shabbos families residing there at present, Cannes attracts a regular stream of tourists and many families own a second home in the area.
The community is serviced by four Chabad Shluchim who are spread over the two main Jewish areas. The school, which operates until Junior High, is responsible for the education of 180 Jewish children, 30 of whom come from nearby Nice and 8 from Frejus. While some families send their children to the Jewish school in Nice, the majority enroll their children in the Jewish Sunday and Wednesday school.
There were 30 individuals traveling for mikvah, however, with the beautiful new mikvah now open, they have close to 50 Tevilos each month.
