Cebu, a picturesque city on a Philippine island, is inhabited by a population of 2 million people. Renowned for its historical landmarks and breathtaking natural attractions, the city combines business opportunities with leisure activities, attracting around 10,000 Jewish tourists annually. These visitors can participate in regular daily minyanim.
Women meet weekly for inspirational discussions and activities, and the children have their own small Kindergarten. The rabbi hosts an average of 50-60 people each week for his Shabbos meals (including tourists).
Among the 200 Jews (20 families) in the area, less than 5 individuals currently use the Mikvah in Manila, located a 1.5-hour flight away. Two community members currently use the ocean for a Mikvah! Rabbi Mendy Axlerod predicts that 10-15 people will use the Mikvah once it is completed.
