Cordoba, the second largest Jewish community in Argentina, is located in the slopped region of South America. The Jewish community was established 11 years ago, and is linked with the local Chabad and Sephardic communities in Cordoba. They currently have 140 women who are active members of the community and are hoping to attract an additional 40 that will start using the new Mikvah. They hold weekly women’s classes three times a week and offer activities for children every Shabbos afternoon with around 80 kids participating.
The community continues to expand, welcoming 20 new kids this year. They have their own elementary and high school named Maimonides, with 100 students – 80% from their own community. In the summer, they have an organized “Machane Camp.”
The community also has a supermarket with kosher aisles, a kitchen offering kosher takeout food, and a café overseen by Rabbi Oppenheim. A family from the community owns a farm where animals are taken for shechita.
